I don’t think it’s any secret I workout (can anyone guess where!?). And I get hurt. And I try really hard to eat well. And I like to shop. And I like wine. And I like jewelry and shoes and makeup and purses.
And I have a lot of friends who are in business for themselves, many of whom happen to work or sell goods in those same categories I like. Coincidence? You decide. In the meantime, maybe you want to explore a bit. Happy Shopping! And Eating!! And Drinking!!!

FITNESS/WELLNESS
- Sarah is a guru of all things fitness & eating & living well. She’s energetic and sensible and hard-working. I started following her custom program early in 2017, and I’ll be damned. I’m down double digits in inches and lbs, and I’m not done yet! If you’re looking for a boost to your overall well being, go check her out. Everything is web-based, so it doesn’t matter where you live. And she’ll help you figure out how to make her program tweak to your crazy life.
- Leah is all things at once: mom, wife, gym-owner, coach, athlete, and in her spare time, running coach, Physical Therapist, and most importantly, friend. Go to her if you hurt. Or need to be motivated to exercise. Or just want to absorb some of her energy while being within 10 feet of her.
Spine and Sport Oak Ridge (I might have to nag him about not having an interweb presence)
- Donnie is Leah’s (^^) brother. He’ll kick your butt in any and all competitions, but he and his partner in crime are also some miracle working Physical Therapists. And y’all, this #lilrunnergirl has had a LOT of PT in her day, and hands down, this place is the most fun. ever. So you can also go to these guys if you hurt. (Also, Donnie and I make one hell of a rowing team – at least indoor rowing – so if we pair up, we’re sorry for the dust in which you are left).
- So if you’re sore, but not injured, this is the place to be. Bryan and his team will work out any and all knots, aches, tightness, cramps, etc with one heck of a sports massage. If you are not familiar with the term “sports massage” – let me be clear.. this is not a relaxing time at the spa. There are not candles and warm towels. Do not be jealous of your friends getting sports massages. They hurt. You will cringe. If you’re special like me, you’ll bruise. But it is worth every minute of grinding your teeth. So give him a call.
ALL THINGS GLAMOUR
- Basically the middle-aged suburban lady’s playground (which is not to say that I am middle-aged, this is just what I’ve been told). Leave the kids at home, or stick them upstairs with Uncle Walt. Hang out with your friends. Drink wine. Try on sparkly jewelry and look at fabulous bags and sunglasses and accessories. Get out that credit card. What more does one need in life?
- I’m actually not sure this one needs a description other than “wine,” right? Jenna is like a fairy godmother. She comes to your house and brings wine. And then you can ORDER wine. And it ust appears at your house. Now, full disclosure.. I haven’t had a Jenna party at my house- but that is only because our house is in a STATE! (that will be a post for another day). So – anyway- if you’re looking for a good Moms Night Out/Girls Night activity.. give Jenna a ring.
- ohhhhh sweet Ellen. I’ve known this girl since she was about 8. Ellen is one of my BFF’s younger sisters. Younger than us by a lot. And quite possibly one of the most incredible ladies I have ever known. This girl is stunning inside and out, she’s genuine and hilarious. And she can sing and do stand up comedy and just generally, light up a room. She started an accessory line with a $500 loan. Designed and made by her (ok, now she does have a team of people who make her products). And now Ellen’s pieces can be found in Kleinfeld’s – you know, the one from Friends !!- and Bergdorf Goodman and oh, also Europe and Canada. I have several headbands and some earrings, and she made Eileen’s First Communion veil. So if you want to feel like you’re waltzing down 5th Ave, go peruse Ellen’s site.
- Yes, the Rodan and Fields that brought your teenage self the miracle known as ProActiv. They know make grown up ProActiv. Don’t pretend you haven’t heard of it. And it does work. I don’t use it always (even tho I want to!) but I can see and feel the difference! So if you’re feeling dull, crepey, old, wrinkly.. you get my drift.. head to Sarah’s page and order up!
Susan Bordeau Cosmetics and SkinCare
- This is one of those times I realize just how long I’ve actually been out of school and working.. because I’ve worked with Susan for about 14 years. Well, known her that long anyway. I guess my current role doesn’t have me working with her.. but you know what I mean. Well, she just launched her own makeup and skin care line. She’s another one of these people that amazes me. The idea of finding the energy to just CREATE a product completely overwhelms me, so for that reason alone I want to run out and buy her goodies!
